Cam Sinclair, Artist

Cam Sinclair resides in Plymouth, New Hampshire. He retired in 2006 after a thirty-five year career in New Hampshire public education as a guidance counselor, wrestling and soccer coach. He remained active as a coach and referee in both sports through 2019. Sinclair is an inductee of the New England Wrestling Hall of Fame and New Hampshire Coaches Hall of Fame.

Second only to his family, Cam’s true love is painting. After 3+ decades of painting on weekends and school summer breaks, retirement has allowed him to devote more time to continue his journey as an artist. He specializes in landscapes and works in oils and oil pastels.  He is a self-taught artist.  Sinclair took up painting after he graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts with Bachelor’s & Master’s Degrees in Psychology.

Cam has resided in New Hampshire since 1971. His love of the rural New England landscape is evident in his artwork as he strives to capture the different moods and lighting of the ever- changing mountains, fields, streams, and lakes.  His paintings have won “Best in Show” awards
at numerous art shows over the years. Sinclair’s artwork caught the eye of an art critic from the Boston Globe Newspaper who described his smaller paintings as “Impressionistic Jewels.”

Cam was born in Shanghai, China and spent most of his youth growing up in Mumbai, India.  His later teen years were spent between Connecticut, Vermont & Pennsylvania. He and his wife Sherry have been married for over 50 years. They have three grown children and are proud grandparents.  Cam continues to enjoy his retirement years and exploring new subject matter.

Artist Statement

Shadows and light inspire me. I always get an emotional rush when viewing the changing
landscape. That is what I try to capture in my work.

At present I am experimenting with different paint mediums to see how they affect my work. I
am gravitating to a medium that gives more movement to my oil paintings.
